Rock of the Earth

[by the Bungee Jumpin’ Cows]

Topic: Geology: rock types

Summary: The Earth sings about the forces that mold them into sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks.

Melt me down way deep inside

As I cool, let me crystalize

I'm igneous, but don't take me for granite

Burnin’ hot lava - I can be volcanic

Chorus:

I'm rock - rock of the earth (2x)

Rockin' and a rollin' since the date of my birth

I'm rock - rock of the earth

Wash me with water, blow me with wind

Carve out my valleys, erode my skin

I'm made of mud, silt, rocks and sand

Hardened into rock I'm sedimentary land

 Chorus

Bridge: I've been gettin' worn down high and low

Since 4 1/2 billion years ago

Lucky for me, my continents drift

Earthquakes give me a face-lift

Give me pressure and heat and I'll start to change

Make stripes and folds as I rearrange

I'm a metamorphic rock down under your shoes

Be nice to me, ‘cause I can be gneiss too.

Chorus
